Getting the word out!
In the summer of 2011 I got permission to record a portion of the show to help promote the cause. I made a video in tribute to Harry Chapin, marking the 30th anniversary of his death. It is on YouTube at:
I figured that no one can come to see a show they don’t know about, so I needed your help to get the word out! I offered to increase my goal of funds for hunger by $10 for every view of the video.
At the time, there were 139 views, so I had to raise $1,390. My challenge was to have viewers raise that to 5,000 views (that would put my goal at $50,000!). Well, as of 11/19/12 there are 1,537 views and CPG has raised over $65,000! That’s over $40 per view! The word is getting out, even without youtube.
So my new challenge is for you to catch me! And I’ll spot you $30 per view!! Pass this link on and watch the number grow! Come back here to see if I can keep ahead of your challenge. (1,537 times $30 is $46,110 – so I’m about $19,000 ahead, 633 views… but I’m taking 2 months off for the holidays.)
The current amount Phil has raised is shown on the CPG History page.
What a great ministry. Would you be interested in coming to Missouri? First Presbyterian Church in Columbia would host. We do the Crop Walk in October to raise money for hunger. My friend Susan Barlow sent my your information and a copy of your program. I am chair of the mission committee at First Pres. in Columbia and we spoke about you at our last weeks meeting. We would be honored if you would consider coming to mid Missouri.
Phil,
Our daughter Elisabeth (Lisa) Hendricks in Colorado Springs told us about your website. I think we had also heard about your work from Ilene (Dave’s sister-in-law) before. How exciting to see that you are doing such wonderful work!
Let us know if you ever come to Southern California; we could possibly arrange for you to sing at our church.
You probably don’t remember us, but we met you in Tiskilwa when you were a boy.
